Chanel Cruise Collection 2012 and " The Tale of a fairy" film

Karl Lagerfeld took us in a dream trip to "Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc" in Antibes, France, one of the "most beautiful places" on earth as Karl said. "This is the other side of paradise" where "People have never had as much money [here] as they do at the moment, and this is about how to spend your money but spend it in style", words of Karl Himself.
Talking about his designs, while the sun was setting on the French Riviera,  the designer added, "this is the time of day when you can tell real diamonds from fake, and here they are real." Karl believed he " didn't do anything retro" this time and that it has always been his "job to challenge" the usual and this season his latest creation is the "thong footwear"!!!

The show opened in Yellow, the color of sun and flowers, the classic Chanel was there. 74 looks, nothing retro Karl said but nothing new either. "too  much may not be enough" Karl Observed in a collection inspired by "Rita Hayworth" and "Aly Khan". I could see more the Khan in one look "Baptiste Giabiconi" wore but Rita's femininity was missing. Comparing the expensive Chanel Woman to the Chanel Man, there is a difference of level or maybe he paid all his money to buy her some of the Label's garments.
In a show where no black model walked the walk, the best part was the black and white part and still nothing was as impressive as the place itself that re-opened its doors after 4 years of restoration work and  €45 million spent to bring life back to this luxurious French site.

Heavy is the word to describe this collection and the focus was more on the diamond accessories but when i comes to clothes, we got lost between the massive amount of models showing a bit of everything: Jackets, shirts, pants, swimsuits, evening dresses, skirt suit, short dresses, embroidery, lace, silk, tweed... and that mosaic print is just too winterish. I don't know what resort is it, we all know that this line is the one that stays in the shops for the largest period of the season but still I got lost. The last shows Karl Designed for Chanel where my favorite, i could feel something homogeneous in the collections, in this one i got lost, as lost as Karl himself was while designing maybe. Here i ask another question, Who did the styling and why the black shoes with those white dresses? there where i felt that a breath of air is coming my way, those black thong sandals disturbed me.
My favorite peaces where the high waisted pants worn with those feminine shirts, the white dress Natasha Poly wore or the black one with encrusted diamonds on its sleeve that Karolina Kurkova wore with the horrible shoes. Also the floral dress worn by Melissa Tammerjin. There was something mysterious in the second part of the show and the appearance of Kristen McMenamy surrounded by Jake Davies, Mark Vanderloo and Sebastien Jondea was the best part.

Other garments were unexpected in a negative way, the lace dress Sara Blomqvist, the denim waist pants Caroline Brasch Nielsen.

The end of the show witnessed the launching of Karl Lagerfeld longest film to date "The Tale of a fairy": and you can Watch it Here. The Film starring Kristen McMenamy, Amanda Harlech Anna Mouglalis, Freja Beha Erichsen, Bianca Balti, Baptiste Giabiconi, Brad Koening, Jake Davies, Mark Vanderloo, Oriol Elcacho, Sebastien Jondeau, Seth Kuhlmann among other friends of Chanel's house and Karl is a drama about inheritances, ex-wives, parties, casinos and some lesbianism in a sensual scene between Anna Mouglalis and Freja.
